Teen, Next Generation, New Expectation

If we talk about culture, we unavoidably debate Indonesia. Indonesia has so many cultured. Not only Asia, but the whole world has confessed it. For example, Bali is one of the “paradises” in the world and it is located in Indonesia. But humorously, most of the foreign more recognize Bali than Indonesia.

These days, along walked times, our culture is begin to disappear. It’s because most of the teenagers are shy at studying our own culture. They said our culture is ancient and feel ashamed about it. And they start to leave it.

But occurrence lately, the case with Malaysia, makes the Indonesian people realize. The teenagers, most student, are carped that occurrence. They begin to confess the culture, which is confessed by Malaysia, as their culture. It does generate a dilemma. Is that necessary an occurrence to makes our teenagers esteem their own culture?

The occurrence with Malaysia, which is confess Indonesian diversity (such as; Pendet Dance, Reog Ponorogo, etc), is don’t fully Malaysia fault. Indonesia government also have fault. The government isn’t seriously taken care of our culture. If something happen, like occurrence with Malaysia, then government act. If nothing happen, the government is totally quite.

Is not fair if we blame all the fault to the government. The people also wrong. Just a few which truly care about Indonesian culture. Another else only give attention when there’s a “big” occurrence happened. Or we can say just spurious attention.

Here, teen act is fully needed. As the young generation and also next generation, teenagers have to protect their own diversity, in this case are culture. The teenagers can’t disregard the responsibility to preserve their culture. The way to preserve our culture is learning the culture itself. It’s the only way. It’s not too hard remembering other country also want to imitate them, why can’t we study our own culture?

Another way is looking for patent of proprietary rights. In this case, culture proprietary right. If we have the patent right, there’s no way for another country to imitate one of our diversity.

Not only as the next generation of Indonesia, as young generation, they also had to consider about their own country. It will be useful when they grew up and be one of the leaders in this country. Because now days, the leaders are lack of nationalism. They just want to enrich their self without though about the people who chose them.

If teenagers are intention to preserve their culture, there’s no chance for another country to imitate them. Most of the teenagers will fight for their right. So, why don’t we give a chance for the younger to act? (utm)
